Dual CCT in General Adult Psychiatry and Old Age Psychiatry
Dr Umar A. Patel is a highly experienced UK-trained Consultant Psychiatrist with a dual CCT in General Adult Psychiatry and Old Age Psychiatry. He works across NHS and independent settings and brings broad clinical expertise spanning complex adult mental health, later-life psychiatry, and neurocognitive disorders.
Dr Patel has a strong specialist interest in mental capacity assessments and DoLS- related work, alongside complex diagnostic and treatment planning. He is regularly instructed to provide independent assessments and is recognised for delivering clear, well-reasoned, and clinically robust opinions that are practical, proportionate, and defensible.
He holds a substantive NHS Consultant post and works closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and professional stakeholders.
