Dr Chinwe Utomi
Consultant Psychiatrist, MBBS, MRCPsych, CCT (General Adult Psychiatry), Section 12 Approved, ADOS-2 and ADI-R Trained, Specialist in Perinatal Psychiatry and Neurodevelopmental Assessment
Dr Chinwe Utomi is a GMC specialist-registered Consultant Psychiatrist with a Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult Psychiatry. She currently holds a consultant post in the Perinatal Mental Health Service at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and has broad clinical experience across general adult, perinatal, crisis, community, liaison, addiction and eating-disorder psychiatry.
Dr Utomi has a particular clinical interest in adult neurodevelopmental assessment, with extensive experience in structured ADHD and autism diagnostic assessment using DSM-5 criteria, medication initiation and titration, and shared care arrangements. She is trained in the ADOS-2 and ADI-R and has significant experience delivering psychiatric assessments via secure video consultation platforms.
This breadth of experience allows her to consider ADHD and autism within the wider context of each individual’s mental health, relationships, employment and everyday functioning. She recognises that neurodevelopmental conditions can present differently from person to person and may overlap with anxiety, depression, trauma and other mental health difficulties.
